Hotel Clover at Hong Kong Street
rate 140 per night

this was as promising as its name as one would think of its auspicious title suggests. however on arrival it looked like a random hole in the wall of dilapidated shophouses. i have no issues with shophouses but if the structure appears unsound and the neighbouring units abandoned, clearly this isn't the best place to put a boutique hotel

the furnishings were average and terribly designed such that the bed was squooshed like a bunk bed in a cruise cabin, leaving very little options for movement or access.
the bathroom stall made up for that with its generous rain shower and spacious standing room. and the glass panel motif added a touch of chic.

within the vicinity is a decent offering of food choices like the overpriced bak kut teh options and central mall for shopping. the air con provided relatively comfortable sleeping climate and there is a small breakfast cafe below but we were better off having food at the nearby kopitiam or convenience store.

overall rating 3/5
